What really happens…

The Seed is Planted

During dinner with an old friend and co-worker, I learned that a guy who currently works for him runs a small car lot on the side. More specifically his family runs it, but he’s the one that has the license and started the biz.

On the surface this didn’t appeal to me. Visions of a seedy corner lot with red/white/blue flags loosely draped between light posts and salesmen in wide ties and brightly colored blazers popped into my head. Then a shudder went down my spine. But the idea wasn’t immediately dismissed. Was there a way to adapt this to something I wouldn’t mind being a part of? With a tech background, was there a way to do this that could even be considered fun?

I’ve recently been laid off and even scoring an interview in the current economic climate has proven to be difficult. That along with knowledge I’ve learned from previous startup efforts puts this idea in the “possible” category. I’ve also owned/traded dozens of cars, though ironically enough the last time I purchased a used car from anyone smaller than Carmax was around 20 years ago.

More investigation is warranted.
